The cast of the musical production “Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs Before Dark Kids” are all 6-12 year olds who bring enthusiasm and talent to the stage. These children are all part of CAST Playhouse, a free program run by Theatre in the Grove in Forest Grove that provides an opportunity for children to be involved in a theatrical production.
This summer there are two musicals—one for children ages 6-12 and one for teens—and one play. The program is in its fifth year, and this is the third summer my oldest child, now ten, has been participating. The program is funded entirely by donations and ticket sales.
I can tell you from experience, these kids spend an intense few weeks working hard studying their lines, learning the music, and putting together high quality, entertaining productions. The shows are family friendly and more than worth the five dollar tickets.
“Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs Before Dark Kids” will be performed Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm, and Sunday at 2:30pm for the next two weekends (July 11-20).
Look for “Robin Hood” August 1-10, and “Into the Woods, Jr.” August 15-24.
Tickets are $5 for all seats. General Seating. Tickets are available online (click here) and at the door one hour before each performance. Theatre in the Grove is located at 2028 Pacific Avenue in Forest Grove, Oregon.
